My gardening update for this Saturday… now Sunny ends after a week of much-needed sunshine, which hopefully continues into next week and beyond. Mr P has been busy working on some of the irrigation systems, checking for leaks, dead batteries and resetting programmes after the winter break in readiness for weeks of sun and dry weather … yes, I am an optimist. There is still so much work, such as weeding and pruning, to be done in the garden. I don’t know where to start, so hopefully the home help who started a couple of weeks ago will live up to her promise and help with the weeding.
Trying to Grow Herbs in Pots
I finally got around to planting the herbs I bought at Silves market. Fingers crossed they survive. The mint has different watering and sun needs from the sage and oregano.

The lemon thyme, which rooted through the pots into my madge plant (dare I say) continues to thrive. Possibly because I’ve ignored it and so far have not killed it with love. The dill also continues to thrive and has self-seeded. I must remember to water and move it more into the shade.

More Succulents Flowering in March
Some of my succulents continue to flower.

Pelargonium
When this pelargonium died off with a mystery illness, I cut it right back. I gave it a talking to, ignored it, and despite the months of rain, it has rewarded me with a beautiful show of flowers

Yellow Hibiscus
This is my latest purchase

Calanthea in Flower
Who knew they flowered? I bought it for the beautiful, patterned leaves… well, they were until Mr Piglet dropped the outside cushions on it, squashing the leaves.

Bromeliads
The rest of my Broms are not happy and are ‘work in progress’

That’s my six gardening joys for this week folks! Better late than never.
My thanks to Jim for hosting the Six on Saturday gardening MEME.

I’ve never seen them flower before and after my disasters with houseplants I probably never will again

hi Tracy, I still can’t post a comment on your blog. I get the message ‘failed to publish’
This is what I tried to post
Tracy, you have SO many wonderful plants! I love the tropical tower idea and epiphyllums are beautiful when they are in flower. The irises while beautiful are well rehomed. The random bulbs popping up in your hell square? made me smile. The birds gift me a lot of wild plants.

Everything looks healthy and hardy, Carole, except the one that was attacked by a cushion, lol. I had to smile at that one. I’m sure Mr. P has done proper penance and all will be well.

Hi Terry, I confess I did have a dummy spit because the leaves were beautiful. Yep, Mr P was mortified.
