If we were having coffee, I’d tell you it has been a busy week or so. The highlight: we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary on the 18th October followed by a trip to see our family in France more on that next week.

Mr. Piglet secretly planned a boat trip from Olhao to the Ria Formosa and visit a couple of the islands. Unfortunatley we discovered the timing of the excurison coincided with high tide so much of the Ria Formosa was covered in water. Not to worry it will give us an excuse to go again next year!
For some reason I don’t have any usuable photographs of the boat or islands other than the sea cucumber and seahorse both of which are residents in the waters of the Ria Formosa

The next surprise a night at the The Pousada Convento de Tavira which dates back to the 16th centuary and is located in the historic centre of Tavira. Again, I don’t have any photographs to share as my plan to tour the hotel and local area the following morning never came to pass.
Once we had settled into our hotel room and changed for dinner, Mr. P then took me to a VERY expensive Michelin star listed restaurant. Sadly, the restaurant fell way short of our expectations, and a couple of hours after returning to the hotel, I became very ill –l probably food poisioning. The timeline fits with eating what appeared to have been a raw prawn we never queried.
Needless to say, breakfast in the beautiful hotel’s internal courtyard was off the agenda, as was a tour of the grounds and local area before moving on to lunch which included entertainment followed by a trip to the gardening show. -ho hum… on a positive note, I shed a few pounds.
Ending on another positive note, at least we both made it to seventy and fifty years married. 🙂
A couple of days later, we were off to France. More on that next week.

Muitos parabéns! Todos os aniversários são para comemorar, mas cinquenta anos de vida em comum é uma vitória e uma verdadeira doçura.🥂

Thanks Bernie. If I could have proved it I would have been beating their door down. But at least we got to celebrate where so many couples dont make it.

Oh my, Carole! I’m so sorry to read that the celebratory meal for your 50th anniversary was less than stellar. Happy to hear that you and Mr. Piglet survived and will enjoy alternate celebrations with family in France. Take good care, and Happy, HAPPY 50th to both of you!!

Oh dear! Was it A Ver? I haven’t been there for years and I wasn’t so impressed then, but I did like the view. A Mesa is a Michelin aspirational. I haven’t tried it and probably won’t. The brand new Palacio is nice though. What a rotten ending, but congratulations anyway. Mr. P’s intentions were good xx

Hi Jo, it wasn’t A Ver it was the other you mentioned. We were not impressed. Yes, Mr. P worked hard with the planning to make the day perfect.

It used to be a very basic Portuguese place we went to all the time because the food was excellent. We were sad when misfortune hit the family xx
