If we were having a coffee, I would tell you this week temperatures ramped up from the low twenties with a cool ocean breeze to the mid-thirties to still and stifling with no air. Everyone was and still is moaning that it is too hot. Far too hot. In fact, it is too hot for hard physical exercise. So… this would be the week Mr. Piglet unwittingly scheduled to have his mountain of winter logs delivered.

Okay, he never knew it would be this hot, but I did feel sorry for him when the logs arrived in the burning glory of the midday sun. Of course, he manly refused all offers of help and soldiered on, stacking and wheeling the barrow to the furthest corner of the plot.. Fifty-four barrow loads over three days.
ON A MISSION – THIRD TIME LUCKY!
This week I took a day off from my shift at the charity shop. I won’t work alone for obvious reasons, and as my colleague was away, I sadly had no choice. SO … I suggested to Mr Piglet we go for coffee at one of our favourite cafe which has a beautiful garden. IT just so happened it was also close to a small garden centre and I had set my heart on another pink diplanenia to populate an empty black display pot.
When I arrived at the garden centre (I’ve spent hundreds of euros there over the years) I was dismayed to discover how run-down and neglected the place had become. Several of the plants on display were dead or dying. There were weeds everywhere and black crates and boxes were scattered around. It had never been ‘twee’, but this was neglect on a new level. Needless to say, I never got my plant.
The following day, we went food shopping in Lagos, and Mr Piglet, sensing I was still on a mission, kindly suggested I might like to pop into another garden centre. I did. Sadly, the only diplanenias had red flowers. No, that area of the garden display is pink. I left empty-handed. Mr. P suggested we visit another garden centre. Phew! Third time lucky.
We had already bought some quality multi-purpose compost which I mixed with manure and soil for good measure and watered well. I think it looks happy… oops then came the heatwave.

OUT AND ABOUT
We did manage to fit in a cocktail and then a meal at Lazy Jack’s restaurant on the Marina. Friday lunch with friends at a typical Portuguese non-touristy restaurant and then a pool party on Saturday. Today we melted in the heat. Hid indoors and chillaxed!

Sorry about the heatwave corresponding with the woods delivery. Yikes! Sounds as though you had some lovely outings, though.

Thanks for dropping by, Natalie.. I do love the diplandenias because they are such a giving plant with hardly any attention. It was a lot of work for hubby.
