My week has been crazy busy. What about yours?
EASTER
We didn’t have any plans for Easter weekend as our family is in France or the UK, and our friends are either away, have family staying, or whatever. So we will be ‘Billy no Mates’ on Easter Sunday. We intend to relax and stuff ourselves with turkey, Christmas pudding, and good wine. To be honest, I was tempted to invite folks for a meal, but I am too exhausted to entertain. Lucky I didn’t, I woke with the Mother and Father of a migraine.
What are (were) your plans for Easter Sunday?
Friday was HOT CROSS BUN DAY
CHARITY SHOP
On Monday, I volunteered once again to serve in the animal charity shop. It’s nice, as I am beginning to recognise some of the regulars and them me. I now sort out clothes that are not on display that I think they might be interested in. I think they appreciate my proactive efforts, and I made several sales as a result! I am still not enamoured with the window display, but as my offer of help was politely ignored, I resist the temptation to redress the window. It’s always been done in a certain way, so what does a newbie know? I hold my tongue and curb my enthusiasm.
I also got to practice my Portuguese on a German lady who did not speak English.
NINJA BBQ PIZZA
Mr P has once again been stalking YouTube and discovered he could cook Pizza using the Ninja BBQ using the plancha. I gave him the ingredients and left him to it. His first attempt tasted delicious!

The Ninja BBQ-come-smoker is Mr Piglet’s baby. I added the Burrata morzerella cheese to the pizza. We still disagree whether the Burrata cheese should have been cooked. I preferred it uncooked. What do you think?
Either way, it was delicious! Kudos to Mr. P for stepping outside his comfort zone to try something new.
Any other pizza fans out there? How do you prepare and cook your pizza?
GARDENING – VEGETABLE SEEDLINGS and GARDEN SPRING CLEAN
After months of semi-neglect and being battered by weather extremes, I am trying to tidy the garden. I confess that I have so many projects in progress that there are pots, sundries, plants, trays, etc., scattered around the garden. I have spent the week either completing projects or tidying everything away until required. What are your current garden projects?
IN THE NEWS: UK’s top court says legal definition of woman refers to biological sex
Amen to this ruling
“LONDON, April 16 (Reuters) – Britain’s highest court ruled on Wednesday that only biological and not trans women meet the definition of a woman under equality laws…”
Article continues: https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/uks-highest-court-rule-definition-woman-under-equality-laws-2025-04-15/
Is this now the case in your country, or is it still under discussion?
Hopefully, this will safeguard women’s sports and spaces.
ON A LIGHTER NOTE: ANOTHER LOST IN TRANSLATION MOMENT
When the guy who cuts our monster hedge stopped by to check when we next required his services, we asked for more honey. … Let me rewind …. He is a beekeeper, and the honey is local, so it’s good for pollen allergy. We asked in our best Portuguese for a large pot, 1kg. We thought he understood. WE all nodded and smiled like nodding dobbins. Late the following evening. Ding Dong. HE arrived all smiles at our front gate holding the largest jar of honey we’ve ever seen. 2kg!
Thank goodness, real honey does not have an expiry date. Archaeologists have found honey that is still edible, thousands of years old, in Egyptian tombs. I’m not sure I’d like to test the theory. What about you?

Thanks for popping over for coffee, and I hope to see you next week. In the meantime why not pop over to Natalie’s blog and check out more Weekend Coffee Shares

hmm…I’m not sure how I feel about eating ancient honey. I have a large bottle of honey that will take a long time to finish — I can tolerate that.
When my husband was still around, we loved entertaining and hosting parties but I admit it gets tiring. Now as a single parent, hosting one event which was my kid’s birthday party in October was enough for the year.

I´m with you on the thought of eating ancient honey, Julie. LoL
I love entertaining to a point but it is the clearing up that I hate. But kids parties are another animal as they need entertaining and the noise … when my kids were young they had just introduced kids parties at Mcdonalds so that made it easier.

The courts need to realize that sexuality and gender are not simple issues. Here is something from Web MD you might be interested in. https://www.webmd.com/sex/what-is-intersex It’s not specifically about trans-folks, but it’s related. And if you want to see something that will really spin your mind, take a look at this TedTalk, where the speaker, Emily Quinn, looks like a woman and sounds like a woman, but was born with testicles rather than ovaries and has XY chromosomes. https://www.npr.org/2020/05/08/852199410/emily-quinn-male-or-female-is-the-wrong-question-how-can-we-rethink-biological-s Which team should Emily play on?

Hi Laurie, thank you for the links they make for interesting reading. As for Emily it is not my position to make that call

This is an interesting Q and A

For the record I do not have and issue with transgender but it came to the point in the UK where it bordered on the ridiculous with self-identification. That again is fine providing womens spaces and rights are protected.

I am getting to know the locals and what they look for so I love to help them by pointing out what has just come in or is due to be put out. I think they appreciate it.

The pizza does look delicious! Burrata, I’ve only had that as a topper – uncooked. But I can’t say I’d refuse it cooked anyway haha.

Hi Tray, thanks for stopping by. Interesting you have only had it as an uncooked topper. That’s what I thought and you have confirmed what I said to Mr. P

I don´t want the crazy busy weeks no more, it was like that when I was working but now I very much need another pace. We love pizza, but without gluten. Tomorrow we are going to Lagos and I will enjoy a gluten-free pizza at Mamma Mia. Glad you had a great pizza at home!

Not got time to read this properly, Carole. Happy Easter! Family were here for a week and a small catalogue of woes. The floral procession at Sao Bras this morning was brilliant xx
