Looking back through some of my garden photographs for January, I am amazed just how many plants were in bloom. With this in mind, I thought it would make a good point of reference to keep a month-by-month pictorial journal.

The Bird of Paradise was also flowering during January, but unfortunately I haveno pictorial record.
You are north of us in Middle Tennessee. Our bulbs are coming up into 24 degree temps and snow showers. Flooding and tornado warnings this week. Are you near Lisboa? We dreamed about retiring there.
That sounds funny. I sort of expect Tennessee to be North of Portugal, as well as North of here. Portugal as well as Spain look remarkably like California and Southern California. I think of Tennessee as having a colder more northern climate.

I think even if I was in the UK I’d need to find some winter colour. That or have an enormous heated greenhouse or conservatory.

Temps in Portugal vary considerably. Up north is colder and wetter. East of us towards Spain is far, FAR hotter.
