How Was Your Week? Easter Break

If we were having a coffee or a cocktail, I’d apologise for rocking up a day late for the weekend coffee share. Even my Six on Saturday garden meme organised by Jimbecame Six on Sunday, and it’s Monday already. I’m not sure if the unexpected appearance of sunshine for the whole week has addled my brain or what, but time slipped away. Or maybe it’s because everything seems to take me twice as long these days. No, I have become disorganised and easily distracted. I used to keep a Day Book where I’d write a list of jobs I wanted to achieve that day, and I found that helped.

Do you make a job list to keep you on track, motivated and focused?

Aircon – I would also tell you we have spent the last week focused on obtaining air conditioning quotes. Not that we want air conditioning to cool the place down in summer, but for heat as an alternative to our log-burning fires. Something we can turn on at the flick of a switch. Something not as labour-intensive as stacking and humping logs. We looked at some of our friends’ units, checked BTUs, installation methods, and their suppliers, but it seems the prices we were quoted this week were double and even triple the prices our friends paid a year to 15 months ago. We wonder if we have the word MUG stamped on our foreheads. When Mr P queried the price with one company, she put the phone down!

Nifty Ninja

At Christmas, our son and his wife, knowing how much I love cocktails, gifted us a Ninja drinks maker. It is a machine that makes frozen or slush-puppy-style drinks. Anyway, the hot weather prompted us to start using it, and Mr P made me a Blue Lagoon enough for two big glasses, which I sipped in the sunshine. No wonder I didn’t get much work done that afternoon.

Easter Sunday – As we had our traditional Easter turkey and trimmings on Good Friday just as I was beginning to panic what special dinner I’d cook Easter Sunday Mr. P surprised me and booked one of my favourite restaurants with amazing sea views, O Paulo’s in Arrifana.

not only are the views amazing, but so are the food and service

That’s my coffee share for last week. Better late than never :)

  1. O Paulo’s looks my kinda place! Organisation wise I keep everything in my digital diary for the day, daily and weekly reoccurring things such as housework tasks and daily meal plan and then use Notes for Pending, next trip notes, shopping list. Years ago I used a Filofax :-)

  2. Lists are imperative in my world, else I fear I’d forget everything! Somehow, the simple act of writing it down/getting it out of my head, helps me remember all on my own.

So glad you enjoyed your easter weekend! Everything looks and sounds absolutely divine!

Hope your week is a lovely one!

  3. I love making to-do lists and I usually have more than one..I didn’t know that there was such a thing as a Ninja drink maker! That chocolate dessert at the very last photo look so good!

  4. Holy cow, what a great surprise -your dinner looks delicious! And no clean-up required, I like that. So you don’t need AC in the warmer months, does it cool down at night?

    1. Hi Tracy, it was a lovely surprise and less stressful than trying to think of something to cook. Aircon, it rarely gets that hot on the WEst Coast thanks to the Atlantic breeze from the ocean. We’ve only had a few occassions where aircon would have been useful. Mostly we open a window and the back and front of the villa and the breeze is nature’s aircon.

  5. Heat pumps seem to be the way to go in non frigid climates. Good luck with it. Yes I am a list maker and can’t imagine ever stopping. It settles my brain and allows me to focus.

    1. Hi Bernie,
“Yes I am a list maker and can’t imagine ever stopping.” haha… that’s what I said! But if something is on my mind at night when I am trying to sleep I do write it down.

    1. Hi Terry, yes, we also love the ninjas. One indoors and one outdoors as the BBQ. Not quiet the same as you can’t beat that smokey BBQ flavour when food is cooked on charcoal. Yep, that restaurant while expensive is worth it.

  7. As we would say in Maine, that looks like some Easter Dinner, both the food and the location. Last year, we had heat pumps installed, and we love them. Good for cold, good for heat and very economical. That Ninja sure does look nifty! Bet that drink was tasty.

      1. We are very happy with our heat pumps. They even worked -20F this year. They were pushing, but they kept us warm for less than we paid in previous years during the same time that was not as cold. Can’t say enough good things about them.
