How Was Your Week? A Lot Better Than Last Week!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you my week matured like good wine.

Physio: The nagging ache in my right side, which at times resulted in excruciating pain and an emergency visit to the hospital for tests, was resolved by my humble physio. The woman is a miracle! It turns out that the pain was caused by muscles in my rib cage … at least I think that’s what she said. Anyways, after deep-breathing exercises in coordination with stretching and some manipulation, whatever was causing the pain was released, and three days later, I am still pain-free. She wants me to ‘take things easy’ for a couple of weeks… and limit the mobility exercises to avoid band work. Fingers crossed!

Fridge Saga: I have been trying to sell our nearly new fridge for about a year. I have had various enquiries (time-wasters) via FB Marketplace, but none resulted in a sale. One guy even wanted to know if it work off solar panels as he lived off grid. How the hell would I know?

A few weeks ago, I noticed someone posted a WANTED ad for a fridge in a local FB group. I replied, dropping the price by 50% just to get rid of it and gain more space in my garage. After weeks of back-and-forth, photographs, numerous questions, and politely telling him where to go (aka where the sun doesn’t shine) when he asked for a further price reduction, I finally waved goodbye to said fridge on Tuesday. I hate selling things online. Chancers these days always want something for nothing, which is why, in a way, I am dreading the upcoming car boot sale. We will see.

Portuguese Lessons: Although these are going well with reading and writing, my verbal and listening skills are crap. I really don’t have a clue.

New Additions to My Plant Family: I’m a down-to-earth, practical person, so many years ago, I banned Mr P from buying me cut flowers because, in my opinion, they are a waste of money, especially those sold at inflated prices on Valentine’s Day. So when we went shopping at Lidl’s this week, and I spotted camellias and an orchid, Mr P offered to buy one for Valentine’s Day. After much deliberation, I bought the camelia, but as we were driving home, I was chuntering on about the beautiful orchid when, much to my surprise, he did a U-turn and drove me back to the shop to buy it!

Thinking Outside the Birthday Box: Saturday was the first fully dry day in months, which meant my plans for Mr P’s birthday on Valentine’s Day would not be scuppered. Rather than take him out to dinner and pay rip-off Valentine’s Day prices, I took him for a hearty cooked breakfast at the Marina. He loves a good fry-up. Personally, I can’t think of anything worse, but there you go, it wouldn’t do for us to be all the same.

Fry up at Lazy Jacks

For years, he had also been wittering on about revisiting Lagos Zoo, which was a regular highlight when the grandkids came to stay. It is only a small zoo, no big cats, elephants, giraffes, etc. Just small animals and birds in the most beautiful gardens. Not fancy manicured type, just tropical. But most importantly, the residents are also well cared for.

ENDING ON A HIGH!

The week ended on a high when our daughter, who lives in France, announced she is coming to see us next weekend and had booked the flights!! She had mentioned her visit in passing before Christmas, but as she has a high-pressure job and is always on the go, I took the promise with a pinch of salt to avoid disappointment.
