How Was Your Week? Do Charging Leads Breed Like Rabbits? … and Royals

It’s been a short but trying week. Fortunately, the cold I caught from Mr Piglet cleared surprisingly quickly and apart from taking some time out on Monday with a Martini Pornstar to drown the germs I hit the ground running (as they say) unpacking suitcases, clearing the laundry and gardening.

CHARGING LEADS—

I don’t know about you, but have you noticed that charging leads now breed like rabbits?

… seriously.

Charging wires

This is just a small collection I gathered together while looking for my missing FITBIT charger, which has disappeared off the face of the earth. I’ve not left it in France, and I’ve turned the house upside down looking for it.

I’ve not got a clue what they’re all for, so next time we have a rainy indoor day, I’m on a mission to identify, organise and label them. At least that is the plan! What about you. Do you have more charging leads than you know what to do with?

Oh, and I’ve ordered another Fitbit charger, and I bet the moment the new one arrives, the old one will miraculously appear!

EXERCISE–

Donna over at Retirement Reflections’ recent post ‘Use It or Lose It‘ reminded me I really must up my exercise routine and set myself mini-goals. Use it or lose it were the very words an orthopaedic surgeon lectured on when I was struggling with exercises after my knee op.

When we were in France, I walked miles around the house and garden doing chores or just walking from A to B, but it was only steps and not ‘real’ exercise, per se. I need to power walk. Yes, Piglet. Don’t dawdle to study and photograph the wildflowers or stop and stare in wonderment at cloud formations. Exercise.

IN THE NEWS

The Conclave elected an American Pope. I wonder if Trump will now have his sights set on making the Vatican an American state?

Poor, hard-done-by Prince Harry whines again and wonders why the royal family does not trust him when he runs to the media and courts when he can’t get his own way.

I’d be interested in your opinion.

Meanwhile, life goes on with the Royals. What delightful children, the family are a breath of fresh air!

NO DOCTOR FOR PIGLET–

This week, I was on a mission to book an appointment to see a doctor at our local health centre (Centro de Saude). My family doctor retired a while back, so instead of being reassigned to the replacement, I was struck off the list because I hadn’t been for a while. I complained and of course got nowhere and was told by the receptionist, ‘I am Portuguese and even I don’t have a family doctor.’ I am not sure I believe her. I will persist. She put my name on a waiting list. We will see. I won’t hold my breath. I need to see a doctor and can’t afford to keep paying.

That’s my #weekendcoffeeshare for this week folks. Now I sit back and enjoy my pastel da nata … and listen while you share your stories.

  1. I imagine you’ll find the old charger 5 minutes before the new one is delivered! I don’t follow the Royal family much here in the U.S. I will say the kids are very charming – I feel like Kate must be a good mother. Harry & Meghan come off as incredibly privileged and spoiled. Your treat looks absolutely delicious!

  2. For charging leads – once the correct gadget is found maybe write the purpose on the sticky part of a post it, trim it then fix to the plug head. Works for me 🙂

  3. I’ve always felt sorry for Harry but he doesn’t help his own cause by the running to the media. But that’s what he saw in his early years. I feel for his kids to never meet their cousins.
I hope you find a family doctor. I hadn’t realized it was a world wide thing as we also have a shortage in Canada. Glad your cold wasn’t so bad.

    1. Hi Bernie, yes it is a great shame his kids won’t get to meet their cousins but in a way they are also lucky because they are not exposed to media scrutiny.

As for doctors in the public health service they are like hens’ teeth.

  4. We keep all of our charging gear in a big ziplock bag and each time I’m dumping it out to look for a particular cord and block, I swear that I’m going to get them organized and labeled, just as you said in your post, Carole. Thanks for the motivation to finally get at it!

  5. Have you always made comments about politics and the Royals in your blog? The comments about Harry seem rather unkind. Rather a turn off for me.

    1. Hi Miriam, I am sorry if you found my observation about Harry unkind. I never wrote his book or hung his family’s dirty launtry out to dry. He broke the family circle of trust. I am a Royalist and for me his actions are unforgiveable. He was unkind and how many millions has he made off the back of his book and the privileged position he once enjoyed as his birthright?

It is okay to disagree. WE are all entitled to our opinion and Harry has made his crystal clear.
