I missed the vase on a Monday last week as it rained most of the day and was blowing a hoolie. Let’s just say it was one of those days you just wanted to snuggle up in front of the log fire with a good book and shut out the world.
As rain was forecast again today, I cheated and picked the flowers on Sunday. I confess they are not from my garden but from a deserted building plot nearby, where nature has worked its magic and carpeted the area with a fascinating array of wildflowers. Walking amongst the flowers on rough terrain, I was slightly (very) nervous that I did not disturb any sleeping snakes or other nasties.

Once home, I quickly got to work as the light was fading. I found a yellow ceramic jug that I thought would complement the colours of the wildflowers. The yellow pom pom flowers are from a Mimosa tree.
Once I was more-or-less happy with the wild informal arrangement I took photographs in various locations.

I like the idea of having a floral display on one of the outside tables. What do you think?
Do check out other ‘Vase on Monday’ arrangements over at Cathy’s blog.

Very pretty wildflowers 🙂

I so enjoy your creations. I would never think to be wary of snakes when picking wild flowers – thanks for the reminder!

Thanks, Lana. I enjoy the creative process. I am wary of snakes because I have a few in my garden and they have surprised me a few times.

Thanks, Rebecca. Now I wished I’d tried to paint them before they were battered by the rain.

My comment disappeared in cyberspace. Trying again. I rarely have vases of flowers, but you inspire! I love mimosa, all the flowering trees is colouring the nature yellow now, I know they are invasive but I like it. The one in your vase is the most fragrant, right?

Thanks for trying again, Anna. WP is driving me crazy at the moment. I rarely buy cut flowers or grow them so this challenge is proving a challenge, but fun. I confess I never smelt it. Now I’m curious.

It looks amazing for the cost of a walk thru a wild field! Awesome.

What a gorgeous creation! I adore wildflowers and all the texture they can add to a bouquet! So much better (IMHO) than so many of the bouquets you can find at the grocery store. Enjoy!

Thanks, Melissa. It was fun to collect and then arrange. the grocery store creations are often like a picture you paint by numbers.

Thanks, Donna. I love creative passtimes although up until the vase MEME I’d not tried flower arranging. This ‘wild’ arrangement has remained outdoors on one of the tables. 🙂

thanks, Cathy. I have never seen so many different wild flowers. We live on the edge of a natural park and we are spoiled for choice.

This is a great bit of foraging, Carole – what a lovely assortment of material you have found, and placing it on that table by the pool brings a sense of warmth to this cold grey day in the UK. Is the plot likely to be built on any time soon?

thanks, Cathy. There is a building freeze here at the moment so fingers crossed.

One woman’s wild flowers is another’s exotics. I love the range of colours and they are so well balanced with the foliage. Nicely done.

Thanks, Noelle. the display proved a challenge as the yellow flowers which were opened when I picked them were closed by the time I got home.
