If we were having coffee, I’d mention, while desperately trying not to look smug, that I’ve lost another kilo (2.2lb) in weight. That’s 3.4kg, or about 7lb, since the 10th of July. I’ve only eaten one dessert this week while lunching with friends, then immediately came home and walked 2000 steps to appease my guilt.

I am still following (sort of) a low-carb/Mediterranean diet, so I intend to experiment with lots of new recipes. Well, I’ve printed them off … that’s the first step. I created this variation on tomato and mozzarella cheese salad. My version is more colourful and creative. Next time, I’ll use creamy Burrata instead of tasteless Mozzarella. All the produce is from my garden. Maybe I’ll call it Piglet’s Horta Salada.

A Dry Summer and I DON’T Mean Drought

I am still on the ‘no alcohol’ regime, which has rather clipped my wings when it comes to enjoying a cocktail or three or a nice bottle of wine with lunch. Fizzy water doesn’t quite hit the spot.

Pet Peeve WARNING – why are non-alcoholic cocktails and wine the same price as alcoholic drinks? I keep meaning to try a ‘mocktail’, but I am loathe to pay the same price for a drink that does not contain alcohol.

Fitbit Burns!

I love my Fitbit, but for some reason, the strap where the buckle rests has just started to cause red marks that blister like burns. I’ve worn a Fitbit for years and never experienced a problem. My latest FB I’ve been wearing since Christmas and never had a problem until now. It seems I am not alone. Fitbit Burns. The only way around it at the moment is to remove it at night. Maybe I will order a different type of strap and see if that helps.

Exercise

My exercise regime, walking at least 5000 steps daily, today yielded several photographs of more wildflowers, which I’ve yet to identify and post in my Wild Wednesday collection. My only regret is that I can’t venture off the track/road because the ground is too sandy and uneven. Never mind; plenty grow by the roadside.

Anyway, exercise was going great this week until I got a little over-enthusiastic about the garden and lifted the heavy buckets of water I’d saved from a shower to water some plants, and I strained my back. Thursday was a day of rest, but today, I’ve eased in with another wildflower walk of 2000 steps.

I’ve found since I joined a FB Group WLWA50 – DAILY EXERCISE CHALLENGE I find it a great incentive to keep going and push myself further.

    1. Well done! I am not diabetic (or at lest from blood tests results in Jan) but I desperately need to lose a lot of weight. Carbs are my weakness.

      The cookies look wickedly scrumptious. I have almond flour and I could buy some 90% dark chocolate and I have some xilitol sugar. I’ll give them a try. Thank you!

  1. Well done on the weight loss. It is an ongoing item that lives in my mind with all my choices. I can’t find a non alcoholic beer that has the same taste — I would pay the price if I could find one I like. As to desserts there are a few things that can be low cal and still taste good. Your salad looks deadly good!!! Bernie

    1. Hi Bernie, yep, non alcoholic beer is an acquired taste 🙂 Desserts I am still working on … I only allow myself one naughty dessert a week when we go out for a meal … haha … then I walk like crazy to try and burn off the carbs as punishment

    1. Hi Jennifer the exercise is a blance with the exercise. I need to lose weight to take the pressure off my knees but I need to exercise to lose weight. It is delicate balance. I like the look of the Tina Turner 2000 step video/ I think I saw that in Sue’s group and meant to return. On your substack it is only a screenshot. Is that correct or am I being a technomuppet. I am useless with Substack. Do you have a wordpress blog?

    1. Thanks, Terry. Exercise is a delicate balance. Still if I can maintain 35,000 steps over 7 days for the next few months I’ll be happy. … 🙂 Then I’ll push myself to 40,000.

      I can feel it is already making a difference.

  4. Congrats on the weight loss!

    Because of diabetes in the family, we are pretty much on a permanently low-carb diet. We eat well, but I am always on the lookout for new ideas and will be interested in seeing what you come up with.
