Dear old Victor – We religiously watched “One foot in the grave” every week for years. The situations in which he found himself and how he reacted were an amusing reflection of everyday life. I thought I better introduce Victor quite early on in my Blog, as he will be referred to quite often. I am not exactly the female version of Victor M, as I do try to look at the humorous side of life, but just sometimes…grrr
I feel sure if they ever made a series where Victor and his long-suffering wife Margaret retired abroad, it would be absolutely hilarious. So much here is lost in translation or the Portuguese just do things differently; and of course, apart from driving, at a much slower pace.
Is there an equivalent program in Portugal? Perhaps the English have their own brand of situation comedy humour that would just not translate.
