Through my blog, I share situations or ‘things’ that make me laugh or cry, from the bizarre to the ridiculous, along with the challenges faced due to language or cultural misunderstandings.
A gardening and succulent-obsessed creative spirit, my hobbies and interests also include writing fiction, poetry, cooking, photography, upcycling in the home, environmental issues, painting, mosaics, exploring Portugal and ‘virtual’ travel. I mention virtual travel as I love to read blogs about life in other countries.
In the last few years, I have developed a passion for poetry. I’ve already had one poem published in an anthology and another in a travel magazine. I need to get off my butt and submit to some online literary mags.

Why the name Piglet in Portugal? Simple, I adore pigs!
We enjoyed our first holiday in Portugal this year, great country and people, so pleased I found your blog.

Hello Ms PiP.
I noted that you “liked” my most recent coffee share post and with a name like yours, I had to learn something of the person behind it. Thanks for reading my post and I hope you decide to stop back around for a few nostalgic laughs in my story collection.
My blogging project is not normal, but I produce 10 minute reads, based on actual autobiographical events from my childhood or now even later in life. They only need to be short and funny. (Well a couple of inspirational essays did sneak in, but most should leave you smiling or (hopefully) laughing out loud. I don’t do daiy posts, but for my occasional story, I’d love to count you among my readers. Please bring a great sense of humor and we should get on quite well. If you find some you like, I do allow sharing and am almost always looking for new friends around the globe.
I’m still working to earn my keep and need to get back to it, but hope to find the time to circle back to get more of a glimpse of one fertile mind in either Portugal or Spain.
Warmest regards,

It looks good. But I didn’t see it before the spring clean. One thing I’d say is that pigs don’t surf: could your tagline be ‘Wallowing in life one day at a time’? Just a thought : ) (def need darker text for tagline)

Hi Piglet – I did a writing course with you in the Holiday Inn, Amancil da Pera a couple of years ago. I have now designed and written a website on ‘Unknown Portugal – the Wild Southwest’ which features activities, places to visit, places to stay, food and wine, markets and events. See http://www.unknownportugal.com. If you would like your blog to be seen on there could you promote my site to your visitors? Let me know either way – be great to hear from you! Cherry

I`m portuguese and feel insulted by the name Piglet in Portugal.
Not to mention, (PIGS) an acronym used in economics and finance. Originating in the 1990s, the term usually refers to the economies of Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain, four economies of southern Europe.
With the onset of the European sovereign-debt crisis, Ireland became associated with the term, either replacing Italy or as a second I (PIIGS). Sometimes a second G (PIGGS or PIIGGS), for Great Britain, was also added.
It`s a disparaging remark.
