Since we’ve returned to Portugal from our travels in Spain, I’ve noticed a distinct chill in the air, which was sadly confirmed when I got into the pool yesterday. I don’t swim much these days; I just float around on my inflatable lilo (a floating pool bed) while sipping a cocktail, listening to music or the birds, and staring up at the sky.
Sadly, as I watched the beast floating in the pool, I realised today will probably be my last rodeo. The water is now freezing, which means lying on the inflatable is like lying in an icy puddle, where the water collects in its folds. I could unearth my wetsuit, but squeezing into that would leave my face resembling a Shar-Pei or a Pug as all the excess flab moves north.

Our pool stays open all year round. The koi and other fish that live there would not thank me if we did close it.

I can imagine! We don’t cover our pool in winter as it is part of the garden. Ark, please don’t give Mr P ideas re turning it into a koi pond.

We are also closing our pool tomorrow. It always makes me feel a little sad, but for no particular reason!

Hi June, do you cover your pool or leave it open. I feel sad because it signals winter is on its way.

We cover our pool because we go back to the UK for the winter.

I confess while I love your stunning scenery I could not cope with the cold weather. Hey why not join my photo meme. You’d have some stunning photos to share and you don’t have to post every day.
