If we were having coffee or a glass or two of wine, I would tell you about my feel-good moments. There were a few moments of frustration, but overall it was a positive week.
FEEL GOOD FILM of the WEEK: NONNAS
Based on a true story, I thoroughly recommend this feel-good film.
IT proves that anything is possible if you have the passion and drive! Have you watched it?
ANOTHER FEEL-GOOD MOMENT: Cat LOST and FOUND – THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA
Friday evening, I received a WhatsApp message shared from FB regarding a missing cat, and I was asked to keep an eye out.

Just before signing off to go to bed, I don’t know why, but I checked our local gardening group. Luckily, I did because one of the members posted a picture of a cat that was in her garden, and it seemed lost. I compared the two photos. Yes, it was the same cat!
I replied, informing the lady, yes indeed, the cat was missing, and to please offer it shelter and a safe place for the night. I assume she did because the following day, the owner made a post thanking people for their help, and he was now safely home.
SHOPPING EXPEDITION – ONE of THOSE DAYS and A NICE SURPRISE
Thursday, we left home early as we had a list of jobs and shopping. IT was one of those days where it started well, dipped in the middle and ended on a high.
We collected our new garden table to replace the old mosaic table, which had rusted away. Bought a set of boules, a swimming costume and a set of darts, then moved onto the shopping centre to return a fitted sheet and buy our grandson’s birthday present. I should have skipped returning the sheet. We queued for 30 minutes. IT was chaos. Witnessing said chaos, I should have walked away as I never had my mobile walker so I could at least sit down. I didn’t. Eventually, we were served. I got a refund.
Relieved that the mission was completed, I entered the indoor/outdoor shopping area to buy our grandson his birthday present. As I opened the doors, the heat hit me like a blast furnace, and the world began to spin. We abandoned that idea and drove back to Lagos to get some lunch.
DINING HELL
A photo does not begin to capture the sheer size of this place….

If I thought the shopping mall was hell, it was heaven compared to our luncheon experience at the Adega da Marina. We wanted a cheap meal, which we call a utility meal, so when we entered this huge dining warehouse crammed with what felt like 200 people talking at once to the point it made my ears bleed and head spin especially when I saw the prices of the food, I should have listened to my gut instinct and left. We didn’t. I ordered swordfish, which was tasteless. No garnish. Nada. Just a minuscule slice of lemon and some boiled potatoes. Mr. Piglet had chicken piri piri. The chicken must have been barely the size of a blackbird when it met its maker, and the chips were like cardboard straws. I wanted to take a photo but by the time I found my phone, he’d eaten his meal. We could have got a cheaper and tastier meal with a fantastic view at Lazy Jacks at the Marina, or gone to the Italian. I left a review on TripAdvisor.
THE HIGHLIGHT -This was defo a feel-good moment
As we were walking back to the car, I think Mr. P sensed I was about to eat someone alive and as we passed a Thai massage parlour (are they called parlours?). Fascinated, we stopped and looked inside. People were having their feet and legs massaged. Much to my surprise, Mr Piglet insisted I had one. OMG! It was wonderful. 30 minutes of bliss and destress. Have you had a Thai massage? What did you think?
I HATE DOING A JOB TWICE … especially sewing

Many years ago, I bought a pair of midcalf-length shorts. I only wore them a couple of times because they looked hideous on a vertically challenged person such as myself. I decided to give them to the charity shop…. then thinking of how much stuff in the shop gets thrown away … and the fact I have difficulty in buying shorts to accommodate my Buddha-size belly, I decided to shorten them. What did I have to lose?
Only my patience because I hemmed one leg on the wrong side. I gritted my teeth. SCReammmmmmed…. Unpicked and rehemmed with the knowledge I’d just saved 30€ on another pair of new shorts!
Do you like sewing?
That’s a wrap for this week’s coffee share. Until next week? Speak soon as I am now off to Natalie’s blog to catch up on more weekend coffee shares.

That is a joyful week! Especially the cat news. I so wish I was a better seamstress, I can’t get along with bobbins to save my life.

Hi Tracy, I am with you on the bobbins. My last machine it took me longer to wind on new thread and get it set up than sew by hand.

Ah! I’m so glad that sweet kitty found their way home! Thank you for helping facilitate that!
Kudos to you for re-purposing your shorts! I do a little basic sewing, nothing fancy, and all by hand (no machine). It feels nice to be able to replace a button or do a little mending but I sure am glad not to darn socks anymore!

Yes, it felt good to know I played some small part in reconnecting the little kitty with her owners.
I am looking at my new and unsused sewing machine sitting on the bookcase and really must pluck up courage to work out how to thread it up and make some pillow portectors out of some old sheets.

Social media is definitely handy to locate a family who lost their pet. I used it quite a bit in my previous neighborhood. My old neighborhood was a bunch of single detached homes and apparently it was common for families letting their pets roam around. Some always thought “they’ll know where home is.” That is mostly true but one day, your pet might be in an adventurous mood. That’s what happened with me one time. I was walking my dogs and this dog without a collar kept following us for the entire walk.

Hi Julie, social media is excellent when it is used proeprly. We live in a holiday area and it is suprising how many people bring their pets on holiday. The animals get distresed, escape

Great news about the cat! Thai massages are very good – and usually way cheaper than spas, beauty salons. I don’t have enough of them 🙂 One I had on a Canary Island leapt up and started dancing on my back. I don’t know what tune she had in her mind but my body felt amazing afterwards. As for rubbish food, I had a dire afternoon tea on Saturday in a classy hotel. It was £35 each so I expected a lot. What a let down, worst ever, hardly any filling in the sandwiches, rubbish dishwater tea, cakes mediocre and the seats were way too low for the table.

Haha… I am glad the massuere never jumped on my back he was a great hunk of a man. LoL
What a shame re your afternoon tea!. I don’t mind paying money for decent food but it annoys me when establishments rips you off. Especially classy hotels. I hope yu wrote a review on trip advisor?

I didn’t complain at the time as it was my friend’s idea and who booked it but yes I can do this online!

Massages are great. I can do basic sewing but only do it when I have to. I’m glad you were able to help the missing cat to return home. Thank you for your weekend coffee share.

Hi Natalie, sewing is now very much when I have to. I am just thankful we live in an age that we no longer have to darn socks. 🙂

Hi, Carole – I don’t sew — not even buttons back on (okay, maybe that if I am desperate, but I definitely draw the line there).
I’m delighted to read that the missing cat was returned home – and that you were able to help.
Yes to Thai massages!

Hi Donna, I have my practical school for my sewing skills. We had to take needlework, cookery and home econimcs. I hated the lessons at the time but came to appreciate them when I got married 🙂
I was so relieved the cat was returned to its owner. Incredible really and all due to a chance posting on the gardning group/

I love sewing, but I hate ripping! I have also sewn the wrong side together on occasion, and man, it’s frustrating. Good on you to get it done and have slow fashion instead of fast fashion. And now I want a foot massage!!
