Determined not to miss out on this week’s ‘In a Vase on Monday’, a meme hosted by Rambling in the Garden, I gathered plants in torrential rain. If you guys are not impressed by the arrangement (I’m not), I hope you are impressed by my tenacity, and I am awarded at least an E for effort. Mr Piglet thought I was mad wandering around the garden with secateurs as I searched for props, and he just shook his head when I appeared back indoors soaked through.

The Bromeliad stems were all floppy and refused to cooperate and stay where I placed them, but at least the nettles seemed enthusiastic, albeit vicious and rewarded my efforts with several stings.

I chose a rustic terracotta vase, which I thought was more consistent with the quirky plant selection.

I admire your dedication to the commitment of iavom. I think your arrangement is charming. I think it could be part of a storyline…

Thanks. EC. I’m not sure what the storyline would be. LoL

How brave of you! Lovely that you made the effort even in the rain and now have a lovely vase to behold all week! 😃

You are really taking IAVOM to heart and tackling it from all sorts of angles – I am very impressed (and would certainly give you more than an E for effort!! 😉)! I particularly like the way you have included nettles, as they seem to sum up the disheveled overall appearance of the vase. What will it be next week, I wonder…?

I love bromeliad flowers (mine almost never bloom!). You get extra points for darting about in heavy rain too!

I wonder why your bromeliads never bloom. Strange 😦 Thank you for the extra points for braving the rain. 🙂

Hi Kris, I tried to leave a comment on your blog and there seems to be a problem

I’m sorry about that! I’m afraid that WordPress and Blogspot don’t always get along. I had to open a WordPress account in order to comment on that platform after it stopped allowing me access without that. Blogspot is supposed to accept anonymous commentators but you’re not the first to experience a problem.

Hi Shrub Queen. I love the colour of the flowers and trumpet leaves. It seems happy wherever I plant it. Sun or Shade.
