Praia da Carriagem on the West Coast Vicentine Coast Natural Park is known for its outstanding rock formations. At low tide, the beach reveals a curious natural amphitheater carved into the schist
It is popular with fishermen and those seeking a secluded beach in a magnificent unspoiled and natural setting. Great for walks, relaxing away from the crowds, but not for those wishing to swim or surf.
NB there are no facilities so take your own supplies.
Directions: Enter Rogil on the EN120. Look out for signs on the left-hand side (if approaching from Aljezur) midway through the village to praias Vale dos Homens and Carriagem. After about a couple of km the road forks. Take the left-hand fork signposted to Praia da Carriagem. The dirt road continues for approximately 3kms through open fields and forests. You will eventually come to the car park. The beach is accessed down at least a couple of hundred steps. It is a LONG way down so not for the faint-hearted. No wheelchair access.

It looks wonderful. Reminds me a little of the rocky coves to be found in northern Spain.
