      1. Well, each to his or her own.
        I gave up eating all meat and fish the night my dog laid her head on my lap and I looked at her and realised I would never eat her so why did I think it okay to eat a pig, sheep or a cow.

        1. Good point, but we don’t eat all animals. If the whole world turned vegetarian would there be enough food and protein for a global population? Because you could not keep all the cows, pigs and chickens, feed them and grow food. Something would have to give.

            Yes there would be enough for humans.
            As for the animals we have bred for our consumption; a vegan planet would not happen overnight, and it is unlikely to be a global change either.
            However, while I am no expert, I imagine their number would dwindle in direct proportion to the numbers of people who stopped eating them.
            One other benefit: Considering the amount of land required to graze animals bred for the table vast areas of land could be returned to forest.
