Blubber Meets Buddha
Blubber sits beached in Buddha pose
cartoon belly wobbles
like blancmange
Face creased to smile
– contemplates whales
scans ocean seeking peace
Grounded body disowned
mind’s eye persuades Blubber
it is a nymph among goblins
spirit soars.
Satisfied, blubber readily agrees
and greedily gobbles more chocolate
stands…………..looks down
who stole her feet?
Self-loathing needs more chocolate
to appease missing feet.
Blubber smiles, in denial
disappears within
sighs, and thinks of whales

When you are fat there is a thin person within, desperately trying to escape.
The inspiration behind the poem ‘Blubber Meets Buddha’ was a debate with my inner-self after I sat down on the shoreline like a grounded whale. I found myself comparing my blancmange-like belly to the that of the sylph-like women who were sunbathing nearby.

So after the Christmas gorgey my diet continues in earnest. Who else starts 2019 with the promise to lose weight or get fit of get fat?
It’s the physical being’s turn to work on getting healthy this year. But the goal is to be healthy rather than watch the scale.

YEs, not all calories are equal. aka almonds and avocados are high in calories but the health benefits outweigh the calorie count.

Such a good point. Non processed, balanced diet with portion control. Which we do anyway for the most part, just need portion control.

People have better things to do in life, other than losing weight. Just be yourself, and the extra weight will go somewhere else.
I really enjoyed your poem.

Can’t do the HF bit. If I eat too much wheat my stomach and bowels growl.
Happy NY to you AJ 🙂

Oh my goodness. I never thought about Buddha needing to go on a diet. I guess he does have an unhealthy amount of belly fat though. 😳

She/he wears a smile so at least it’s ‘happy fat’

I have a buddah belly and three chins, so it’s like looking me in the eye over a sliced cob loaf..
By the end of the year I’d like to be 20 pounds lighter. My knees will thank me for it.

I set myself a target weight loss of 10kg by beg Jan. I lost 5 put on 2kg over Christmas, which I’ve now lost,… so really I lost 7 kg. 🙂 Sigh… I must also lose weight because of my knees. Good luck with the losing 20 Lb. Will you go on a strict diet or just cut down?

Strict diets and I are not the best of chums, but the SW way doesn’t seem to be working as well as it did. I intend to restrict what I buy on the principle that if it’s not in the house, I can’t eat it. All the Christmas goodies are gone now, and I know it will be a slow process. I’m aiming for loss of a pound or two a month.
