Piglet’s Porkers Diet Support Group

Are you on, or contemplating going on a diet and need moral support? Do you have a sense of humour and the ability to laugh at yourself?  If so,  I have started a fun FaceBook support group called Piglet’s Porkers

for like-minded people. This is not a formal group selling a particular diet. Which each lose weight using our diet of preference.

Please don’t worry, the group is set to private so your dieting sins and success won’t be on view to the world and his wife.

If you are not a member of FaceBook but are still looking for motivation by like-minded people, I will host a Weigh-in every Wednesday on my blog. Hey, Weigh-In Wednesday has a nice ring to it! Join me here  or share a motivational post to you blog.

Come on folks, what are you waiting for? Join me now.

  1. I have Facebook but very rarely use it. I’ve been trying to be good about exercise and diet but I struggle with it sometimes as I am an emotional eater. If I am feeling down or stressed my answer is usually food. I have gotten better. I tried to take up running but it seems there is always something – a twisted ankle, an aching knee etc – that keeps me from it which is sad because I do really enjoy it. I have managed to lose about 20-23 kg over the course of the past year just by being more mindful of what and how much I eat but truth be told I do not truly worry much about it. I bought a Simply Fit board (basically a curved board you stand on and twist, can use it for other exercises too, and because of the curve it requires balancing yourself to keep from toppling over thus a simple yet effective workout) and try to use it a few times a week for 15-20 minutes at a time minimum.

I absolutely refuse to give up my beautiful delicious carbs! One thing that has helped me however is to try to have a salad with most meals and I use my dinner plates (which are larger) as salad plates and the salad plates (smaller) as dinner plates so instead of filling up on more of whatever yummy goodies I am eating, I fill up on more greens and veggies. I also started drinking a protein shake for breakfast on days I work to help me feel full longer and resist all the yummy treats that exist working in a bakery.

    1. Wow. 23 + kg that’s amazing!

You are right about exercise and that is my downfall. I can only manage about 10 mins on a static bike per day because of an injury to my knee. I should try and do some pilates. HAve you tried this as a way of toning?

Same as me. It’s a killer when trying to lose weight.

Have you still got much weight to lose?

      1. I tried pilates several years ago. Didn’t like it enough to stick with it – it’s a lot harder than you might anticipate but you definitely get results. I should probably incorporate it soon to help with muscle tone.

I honestly haven’t stepped on a scale in a couple months. I do not own one as I can become obsessed with what it says and get discouraged by it so I just weigh myself at friends or families houses when visiting. So I’m not sure on what my current weight is. Assuming it is still around what it had been last time I was on a scale I do still want to lose another 30-40 kg. I do not have a set weight goal. I’m going more by how I feel and what I see in the mirror. I try not to get caught up with the scale or the size on my clothing labels.

        1. When I exercised regularly I tried to incorporate 2 pilates classes per wee and it did tone my stomach muscle and inner core. I never thought I’d say this but I miss it (I hated Pilates and only kept at it because the benefits were visible)

I try to resist the temptation of jumping on the scales each morning and restrict my weigh- in to once a week on a Wednesday. Hence why I created weigh-in Wednesday

I want to lose weight slowly to give my skin time to adapt.

  3. Good luck C. I find eating low carb keeps my weight steady – so I leave rice, potatoes, pasta, bread out and just eat meat/fish with vegetables or salads, lots of eggs and nuts. Don’t feel hungry and as I’m too lazy and don’t exercise it’s good for me.
    The “http://thelowcarbdiabetic.blogspot.com/” has great recipes.

    1. I don’t have that much of a weight problem but rather a stubborn problem. I’m damned if I am going to go out and fork out hard earned cash to buy a rack of new trousers when most of the ones hanging in my wardrobe are perfectly fine!

The exercise will always reap benefits.

  4. The 18 year old younger brother of my godson had put on a few pounds and was tending towards podgy.
He put himself on a exercise and health (ier) eating habit. When I saw him recently he was looking fit and trip – he’s taken up water polo!
Anyhow, me having never put on an ounce in years – what with running and wot not allowed the kilos to mount up once I become desk jockey.
His effort was the kick I needed.
So, a month ago I simply quit eating bread, increased my walk by a block or two and dug out the old static bike for 10 mins a day.
I’ve managed to shrug off 2.5 kilos!
