A little bit of fun…
If you were an animal what would you be?
What would you look like – what would we see?
Perhaps a spoilt house dog who’s pampered all day.
Walkies and treats “it’s a dog’s life” they say!
But “Puddy” cats rule as they strut round the house.
Owners left screaming at the sight of a mouse
A horse bred for riding or would that be meat?
A burro for working left out in the heat.
Maybe a chicken free range on the farm.
A goose in a gaggle to raise the alarm.
Then there are piglets as cute as can be.
But there’s only one piglet and that has to be me!
Okay, here’s a bit of a challenge!
Which animal would you be and why?
For example. I’d be a pampered Vietnamese Pot-Bellied Pig because they are unique, fun, and affectionate.
Or if you really want a challenge write your answer in rhyming verse – I dare you!
Come on folks don’t be shy…
I’d love to be a tall giraffe
With eyelashes to die for.
How nice to be so tall and sleek
And over treetops have a peek.
Brilliant! You are right about the eyelashes 🙂
I’d be a lioness, of course! 😀
Oh – I forgot to say why. You’ve read the book – you explain why you think I’d be a lioness! 😀
Your review was wonderful. I have it on good authority it is not usual for authors to comment on Amazon, so I thanked all the reviewers on my blog, but I don’t think it is the same, so this seems like a good opportunity to say a great big THANK YOU!!
You are most def a lioness!
No thank you! Your book and blog has totally changed my view and understanding of assylum seekers
A big lovable dog without a doubt!!!
I would like to be a cat
Doing none of this and that
On a sunny sill I’d lay
Sleeping,dozing most of the day
Life would never be so taxing
Contented happy all a purr
One request before I fade
Please will you name me MARMALADE
Rhona – that’s absolutely brilliant!!!
Once upon a time we watched a tv show on baboons. There was this one curious fellow that decided to look under a rock for food. He lifted the rock and saw a snake that was under it and then passed out. When he came too, again he lifted the rock, saw the snake and passed out, he did the same thing again when he came too…
I think that perhaps I’m a bit like that Baboon in the sense that I do the same things over and over and expect different results… which by-the-way is the definition of ‘insanity’ as coined by Albert Einstein. 😆
A baboon? Really? LOL 🙂
lol, well, if you had of asked which animal I was partial too, I’d of said the Eagle. 🙂
A cat… I said this just yesterday. Sleeps 18 hours per day, wakes to wash, eat and Tom-cat around the neighbourhood, best of all, no taxes.
I think cats have a great existence! Not sure I’d like to be a feral one though…
If i were an animal, the choices are few.
A fat cat to pet all day or Winnie the pooh!
(that was me trying to rhyme…!!!!)
If you are winnie the pooh I can be your piglet 🙂
A pampered pooch I would be
No smelly dog beds or kennels for me
I would sleep upon my human’s bed
Concede some space for him to lay his head
Next to mine where he can gaze
Upon my soft and gentle eyes
And give thanks for all my days
Nice one optie…glad to think you would make yourself comfortable as a pooch!
Thanks Piglet – new to all this but thoroughly enjoying the experience.
Hi JC, blogging is great especially if you also treat it as a social experience 🙂 I’m curious – how did you find my blog?
Sorry to take so long getting back to you but had to go back through ‘history’ to find the page. I was exploring WordPress and came to a page called Community Pool. You had answered someone and I loved your Avatar (and what it said) and thought your page must be worth checking out. I was right, of course. ;-))
OK, I wondered. I think the Community pool is an excellent idea. I must pop over to your blog to see how you are getting along. 🙂
You are always welcome! That said, I am experiencing a huge learning curve. It’s like trying to navigate spaghetti junction on a push-bike. :-))
Anything I can do to help, just email me! I’ve learned the hard way and I’m still learning!
I think I’d be a teddy bear
With soulful eyes and golden hair
No need for food (no appetite)
And lots of cuddles through the night
Hi Justcoll and a warm welcome! Love the poem… a teddy bear is just perfect 🙂
What lovely poem Carole. I can’t remember anything that would rhyme at the moment….but I would a cat. Cats are my favourite animals and they seem to be attracted to me too.
Cats are independent and cool 🙂 Good choice
Wonderful poem, post, and comments, PiP! Now, now did I know that you’d pick P~I~G? 😀
If I could be ANY animal in the world . . . I’d be a human being. 😀
Aww Nancy, that’s cheating!
I’d be a dog, all pampered and cuddly,
or maybe a pig, all snooty and muddly!
maybe a pig, all snooty and muddly! – yay that’s me 🙂 so you are a fellow closet piglet
Oink! (Groin in French)
I’d be a Japanese Chin dog, you see
“cause they are cared for my moms like me.
Hi maire, Oh my they are SOOOO cute. I had to look up the name as not familiar
They are cute but terribly stubborn. But I love them to pieces.
Wouldn’t it be nice
if all of the mice,
Divulged, if you please,
their knowledge of cheese,
Now what could be better,
Than a discourse on Feta
Or gooder than Gouda or brie?
The tales mice could tell
Of texture and smell
A cultured feast it would be.
But alas you’ll not find
A mouse who’s so kind
Who’ll part with a single fact.
For although they can speak
Albeit in Squeak
Other language they definitely lack.
Ola~Ark…aboslutely love the poem! You def have a talent there 🙂
Its a bit cheesy, squeak squeak…. but it was fun composing.Thank you!
Couldn’t PiP award you a ‘Golden Rind Medal’? Methinks you have managed the best of all of us by far!!!!
Thank you for the smashing compliment.
Cor, blimey who would have guessed, fame at last! LOL
A pussy cat I think I would be
But only if I belonged to me
I would want to be spoiled rotten
Sleep on sheets of crisp white cotton
Get my food whenever I ask
And pass my days in the sun I bask
Taunt the dogs and catch the mouse
I really am the boss of this house!
(I won’t give up the day job to be a poet!)
Your peom is great BTW
I’m not a poet so I can’t compete here! But animals? As a highly sensitive introvert I wouldn’t be a herd animal. Something that likes people but also likes to get away by herself easily, something that enjoys watching people, enjoys the comforts of home but enjoys being able to roam free… sounds like a domestic cat to me!
A cat sounds a good choice. You could also tease your owners by bringing them half eaten rats and mice just to watch their reaction.
Cheetah… that is me!!
on the wide Afican plains
I can roam wild and free
Oh well… I’ll have to work on this one! 😉
Cheetah! wow that’s a step up from the puddy cat AJ
I can imagine what you’d bring home to surprise people. They are beautiful animals…
A magnificant cheetah roaming wild and free
On wide African plains, that is me!
I would like to be
a sweet yellow bird in a tree.
A sweet yellow canary so you can sing to me!
I would like to own a pot-bellied pig, but I would be either a dolphin because they are intelligent and love to play, or a koala because they spend most of the day sleeping, and the rest of the time they are either having sex (tee hee) or getting high on eucalyptus leaves.
Love the combination 🙂 Now I know why koalas are so cuddly. 🙂
Dolphin is also a good choice…so where’s your poem? LOL
Brain not functioning poetically at the moment. It’s hardly functioning at all.
You see what I mean: two typos in four lines: am certain letters got lost and added during the long journey!!!!
LOL I am glad someone else has dyslexic fingers. The times I type something and then as I press send I spot a strange array of spelling. However, I knew exactly what you meant…but are you sure you want to be a butterfly?
Definitely yes! Well, two husbands and just about everyone on the distaff side has called me such anyways! Can’t fight nature 🙂 ! BUT I am NOT the one pigging out on your cabbages – my own black kale has had a horrendous year also!! And I’m not one of the anaemic breed: my old facebook pic was of a glorious brown sitting on red blossoms: still use it over a year after quitting fb 🙂 !
There are certainly some beautiful butterflies out there!
Having said that I don’t see as many here as I did in England. Can you set up a gravatar so you can still use your pic when posting?
Have meant to do that for ages! Am pretty dumb about anything IT tho’ and with work, exams etc etc have not had time to work it out! Thanks for the nudge 🙂 !
If I were animal it’s a bird I’d like to be
Free to soar over the land and sea
No more flying about with our friends easyjet
I’d flying first class just just like the Jet set
No security checks or passport control
Life would be fun I’d be on a roll
No mortgage or rent just a nest in a tree
Imagine that life just totally FREE
Lovey poem Mike…see you have hidden creative talents here!
Wouldn’t it be great not to be at the mercy of easyjet when we fly home.
Strangely enough I was thinking of a bird – a seagull or maybe a swallow
There is no wy to you I would lie . . .
That always I am called a butterfly
From flower to flower and place to place
My fluttering wings manage to cross ibnfinite space . . . . 🙂 !
Love the poem Eha 🙂
On second thoughts…. I hope you are not one of the pigging cabbage whites that lay eggs on my cabbages which turn to a mas of wrything maggots. CRY…as they eat my precious cabbages.
I’d like to be an eagle
With massive outstretched wings
Looking for a little mouse
And other tasty things
Dropping from the heavens
Swooping far below
Shame about the little mouse
He really had to go
That;s so funny,,,, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Nice one chip I can see you have been hiding your creative talents as a poet!
Whoops that should have read, AND your big fat cats won’t bother me!
I would be a tiny mouse, who runs your cupboards and house, looking for breadcrumbs, especially cheese, AND your big fat cats won’t bother me!
Hi Valerie, but what about the mouse traps? 🙂
Are mice called ratos in Portuguese?
I’m sure that I’d prefer to be a raptor, soaring wild and free
Alas, more likely I would find
Myself, a baboon, with a big red behind!
Nice one H!
